Big Girl Bedrooms

Well, it's baby has a big girl bed!
I don't know if it's because she's my last baby, but it went by SO fast!  It makes me a little sad.
Here is what her nursery looked like...
You can see the whole transformation from office to nursery HERE.

This weekend I sold her crib and the brown hutch to make room for a full size bed.
I'm  just waiting for her bedding to arrive.  I'm  so excited...let's just say there are a few ruffles on it!!

Here are a few beautiful little girls rooms that I love:

These rooms are all so adorable!
 I think the bedding makes such an impact on a bedroom.

A Touch Of Fall In The Living Room...

Our living room is all ready for Fall...
 I love decorating with the mini pumpkins!
 This is on the table in our entryway.
Our piano...
 I filled the glass jars with candy corn.
I'm loving my lantern, it's fun to fill it up with decorations for the holidays...
 I hung a wreath with burlap on the mirror.
I spent the last few days painting trim and it's been a nightmare!  The tape leaked through, so I'll be doing MORE touch-ups and then I'll show you my living room makeover.
Did you notice I spray painted the mirror gray too?
Painting is a pain, but really does make a difference in a room.
Happy Fall!

Fall Decor In The Kitchen

I  usually make our family room the "Halloween" Room...
Then I just add a touch of Fall to the kitchen.
My little boy is always so excited about this time of year.  He came down and said, " I love how this side of the room is Halloween and the other side is Fall-ish!"
 It's nice to have some who appreciates the decorations!

Here is our "Fall-ish" kitchen...
 I kept it pretty simple.
 It's fun to add a pop of orange color to our kitchen.
 In the kitchen window,  I filled a couple of mason jars with candy corn and added a few fall twigs to the jars.  Then I tied a burlap ribbon around them.
 It's simple, but makes me happy when I do the dishes!
 I really like having a little shelf as a part of our oven hood.
It's a fun place to decorate for the holidays!
 I love pumpkins!
This big one is actually fake, but I love how it looks real.
I added a few real pumpkins and fall leaves to a tray for the island.

 I decided to hang a wreath in my big kitchen window.
 Here is one more view of the corner.
Here is our dining area.
I do love how fall makes our house feel so cozy!
Are you ready for Fall?

Money Saving Kitchen Remodels

I recently shared my kitchen remodel on Hometalk.
It is such a great place to gather ideas for your home! You can create a variety of "boards" to store your inspiration & ideas by specific topics.    Another great feature of Hometalk, is that you can also post questions.
 I was so excited when they contacted me and asked if I would curate a board called Money Saving Kitchen Remodels.  It was so easy to find inspiration!
Kitchen remodels can be expensive, but here are some wonderful ideas that can help you keep the cost down.

{Paint Your Cabinets}
 Traci, who has a blog called Beneath My Heart, made her kitchen beautiful with paint!
What a huge difference this makes!  It can totally change the look of the whole kitchen.

 {Create Open Shelving}
I love how Brittany, from the blog Pretty Handy Girl added a touch of color to her shelves!
She lined her cabinets with fabric covered foam. This would also be easy to change out for different holidays!

{Change The Hardware}
On the blog Vintage Farmhouse, She found these knobs at Hobby Lobby for a dollar!
This is such a cheap and easy way to add character to your kitchen!
Her whole kitchen makeover is amazing and she did it all for under $200!

 {Paint Your Table & Chairs}
On the blog Start @ Home, she painted her dining room set and it turned out beautiful!
It totally brightened up the whole kitchen!

{Add Custom Crown Molding}
Katie from My Diy Habits, made a HUGE difference in her cabinets by adding $50 worth of crown molding.  It looks great!

Last but not least,
{Adding Prefabricated Cabinets}
I love how Christina's Ikea kitchen from
The DIY Mommy turned out, it's just beautiful!
This kitchen looks amazing and I know from experience that it can save you quite a bit of money!
Our contractor explained how he did two kitchens, one with Ikea cabinets and the other one was custom built.  The custom kitchen cabinets cost double and he said you couldn't really even tell a difference.

You can find more great ideas on Money Saving Kitchen Remodels on
Hometalk Here.

You can also find me SallyLoveOfHomes on Hometalk.  I would love you to follow along as we continue to make our "House a Home, One Project at a Time!"

Halloween Decor 2014

Our great room is all ready for Halloween!
It is one of our favorite times of the year!
I love our new fireplace, the white background makes all of the decorations show up so well!
If you'd like to see our fireplace transformation, you can see it HERE.
 I got the witch years ago on clearance from Tai Pan, the skull candles are a new addition this year and I found them at Michael's.  I made the paper bats and stick them on with the blue painters tape, that way it won't pull off my paint when I take them down.

Every morning, My 7 year old comes down for breakfast and says, "Eat, Drink & Be Scary" in his vampire voice!

Here is another view from the kitchen.
Here is my bookshelf all decorated for Halloween!
I actually cut up an old cardboard box to fit the backs and wrapped them in wrapping paper.
I've been using the same ones for about 3 years!

My sister gave me an "early" birthday present this year and gave me the books & potion bottle, I love them!
My kids are really into potions!
This is our favorite candy dish "mummy"!
 I've had him for over 10 years, we've had to glue the nose back on a few times, but he still looks cute!!
 Happy Halloween!!

Parade Of Homes: Inspiring Living Rooms

We are in the middle of changing our living room.
You can see what we've done so far
The Salt Lake Parade Of Homes was back in August and I found some very "inspiring" living rooms!
Here are a few of my favorites...
 This living room is neutral, yet bright!  I loved the furniture too...the chairs are adorable!
 The fireplace was AMAZING!!
The woodwork is so beautiful and I love the built in bookcases on each side.
 I like the bright colors in this room.  Once again, the couch and cute chairs made the room! I'm also surprised by the blue color of the fireplace, it's not traditional, but it looks pretty.
 I loved the vaulted ceilings and windows in this room!
The tufted couches and the striped chair in the corner were so dreamy!  If it was in the budget for new living room furniture, this is the style I would pick!
 I thought the accessories in this room were great!
 The pillows pulled the room together and brightened up the neutral couch.
 This was a long narrow living room and they really used the space well.
 I love how they put the bench as a "center piece" between the two coffee tables and couches.
The fireplace was also very unique!
 This room felt a little more modern.  I really liked the coffee table and mirror.
I loved the pillows in this room too.
They are such a great accessory because they are easy to change, but can change the whole style of a room!
This living room feels cozy!
I loved the planked fireplace with the shelving on the sides, it's so charming!
This room was so pretty!  I love how it had the beach house feel, but was still elegant!
 I thought the mantel on this fireplace was gorgeous!
I LOVED the windows on each side of the fireplace too, I wish it wasn't getting dark when we were there, so you could see the view of the mountains out on the deck...beautiful!
I also loved this fun color combination with the orange and black patterned pillows.  It was different, yet it all pulled together!
I hope you have been "inspired" by these living rooms, I think they were all so beautiful!
I've been trying to get rid of all the "brown" in my living room.
Here is what it looked like a few months ago...
 We painted the walls and added new trim.  Then this last weekend, I painted the mirror you see in the picture above a gray color.
I also found a clock to go above my piano. It was the perfect shape and style, just the wrong color.  I also sprayed it gray and sanded the edges to give it an antique look.
It's starting to come together!
I hope to show you next week!
